Where did you get the inspiration for your story “Get off My Lawn” from?
“Get Off My Lawn” is a story for which the title came first. The idiom has long evoked the image of a cantankerous elderly neighbor. David Letterman helped popularize the phrase on his show during the 80s; Clint Eastwood perfected and immortalized it in the 2008 film, “Gran Torino”.
It was given to me as a writing prompt a few years ago, together with the challenge to compose a story in exactly 300 words. From that mundane beginning sprung this result, to which I hope to have contributed suspense, pathos, and humor.
